Shimoga, February 28, 2021: In an effort to show concern for the prisoners the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society in collaboration with the Prison Ministry of India, Shimoga diocesan unit and Central Prison, Shimoga organized medical camp at Central Prison, Shimoga on 28 February 2021. A team of doctors consisting of Dr Anil Kumar C. N., MBBS, MD., Senior Specialist, Shimoga, Dr Lakshmi T. R., MBBS, DGO, Senior Specialist, Shimoga and Dr Ravi Kumar S., MBBS, MS (SURG), FMAS (LAP), DMAS (WALS), Consultant Gastro Intestinal Endoscopy & Laparoscopic Surgeon conducted various tests for over 250 prison inmates both men and women.
On the occasion of the medical camp an ECG machine was donated to the Central Prison, Shimoga by Mr Sylvester Fernandes and Mr Sunil Fernandes, Jog Falls. A team of 8 nursing students from Nirmala Hospital, Bhadravathi assisted the doctors. Mr Stephen Sylvester and his team from Sharavathinagar, Shimoga assisted in providing the prescribed medicine to the prison inmates. All those who underwent the tests received the prescribed medicine free of cost. Sr Helen Moras, SCB the Coordinator of Prison Ministry, Diocese of Shimoga arranged this medical camp. The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society, under the leadership of the director, Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto organized this medical camp. The Prison Superintendent, Mr Ranganath and other authorities at the Central Prison, Shimoga expressed their gratitude for organizing the medical camp and for donating the ECG machine to the Central Prison.
