Empowered Nurse Saves Lives

Prafulla Rebello

Prafulla Rebello is born on 2nd May 1990 as the second child to the couple Salvadore and Philomena Rebello from Thirthahalli.

Salvadore was a masonry helper and depended on day wages from this occupation.  Philomena was engaged in household chores. The family lived in a rented house.

  She and her brother Nelwyn attended school at the St. Mary’s School of their hometown. When she was in sixth grade, she was recommended for sponsorship programme SMSSS. All the four members in the family rejoiced when Prafulla found a sponsor to support her future education. It was the turning point in the life of Prafulla and she progressed well in her education and also their family found great relief as all her educational costs were born from the sponsorship programme.

Prafulla was very hard working and always did well in studies. She successfully completed second year Pre University Course in May 2016 with first class marks. By that time, she had decided to join Nursing College at Nirmala School of Nursing Bhadravathi. She excelled throughout her training period and mastered well her profession. In September 2019, she appeared for the final exams of third year and successfully with first class marks she concluded her training.

All the teaching staff, senior nurses and doctors in the hospital had very high opinion of Prafulla over her integrity and diligence in executing all her responsibilities and so recommended her to work for the same hospital. At present, Prafulla Rebello is a Staff Nurse at the Nirmala Hospital and earning her livelihood. She with great joy expresses her gratefulness, for the bright future. She remains thankful to everyone that contributed to her success and has helped her to build a brighter future. She left the sponsorship programme on 28 November 2019.
