Veerannana Benavalli, Shimoga, July 25, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society in collaboration with the Forest Department, Ayanur Range celebrated Environment Day at Veerannana Benavalli of Ayanur Gram Panchayat on 25 July 2019. Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the Director of SMSSS inaugurated the programme and highlighted the need to protect the nature from further destruction. Everyone should voluntarily feel the need of protecting the environment.

Mrs Mamatha and Mrs Shobha, members of Ayanur Gram Panchayat, Mrs Shakunthala, member of Shimoga Taluk Panchayat, Head Master of Government Higher primary School, SDMC member Mr Shivakumar, the assistant Forest Range Officer, Ayanur and Patanjali Yoga & Prakruthi Samsthe, Shimoga Secretary Mr Nagaraj J were present for the programme. Mrs Savitha M, the animator for the area along with Mr Jagadeesha K. H. organized the programme. 45 women and 20 children participated in the programme. Women participants carried seedlings for planting them in their land.  

Shimoga, July 13, 2019: The beneficiaries of Family Development Programme (FDP) under Save A Family Plan (SAFP) of the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society celebrated the Environment Day on 13 July 2019 in the premises of the Christian cemetery situated on Sagar Road. Rev. Fr Stephen Albuquerque, the Parish Priest of Infant Jesus Church, Sharavathinagar presided over the programme. Sr Premalatha UFS, the Co-ordinator of SAFP and Mrs Pramila, the animator organized the programme. 48 beneficiaries from Cathedral, Sharavathinagar and Hosudi centre participated in the programme. 6 seedlings were planted in the cemetery. Anganawadi teacher, Mrs Veena who was the chief guest, spoke about Anganawadi schemes and requested the members to avail them. FDP beneficiary Mrs Rekha spoke about the benefits she has received from FDP.

Danihalli, Honnali Taluk, July 08, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society in Collaboration with Streebandhu Federation, Ganjenahalli celebrated Environment Day in the premises of Government Primary School, Danihalli, Honnali Taluk. The PDO of Ganganakote Grama Panchayat, Mr Satish, Head Master of the School, Mr Suresh, assistant teachers, school children and 38 women from 3 self help groups were present for the programme. The PDO, Mr Satish noted that SMSSS is not only giving awareness on savings, loan ,etc. but is also fully involved in communitarian activities like this. he also appreciated the efforts of women who have decided to plant at least 100 plants and protect them. Mrs Lilly Lopes the animator of the area organized the programme.

 

Jayanagara, Hosanagara, July 06, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society in Collaboration with the Raithabandhu Federation, Jayanagara and Grama Panchayat, Jayanagara celebrated Environment Day in the premises of Government Hign School, Jayanagara, Hosanagara Taluk. Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the Director of SMSSS, Mrs Sunitha Ramesh, the President of Jayanagara Grama Panchayat, Mr Suresh, the Forest Officer, Mr Vasappa Gowda, the President of Raithabandhu Federation, Jayanagara, the officer bearers and members of Raithabandhu Federation were present for the programme. 5 seedlings were planted in the premises of the school. 375 plants were distributed to the farmers. Mr Madhusudhan and Mr Ravi, the Coordinators for the area and Mrs Pavithra the animator organized the programme.

Kolagi, Sonale, Hosanagara, July 06, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society in Collaboration with the Raithabandhu Federation and Streebandhu Federation, Sonale celebrated Environment Day in the premises of Government Lower Primary School, Kolagi, Hosanagara Taluk. Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the Director of SMSSS, Mr Balachandragowda, the Vice- President of Kolagi Grama Panchayat, Mrs Rathna, the ward member, Mr Sadananda, the Forest Officer, Mrs Remedia D'Souza, the Head Mistress of the School, the officer bearers and members of Raithabandhu and Streebandhu Federations were present for the programme. 10 seedlings were planted in the premises of the school. 55 participants received 2 seedlings each. Mr Ravi and Mr Madhusudhan, the Coordinators for the area and Mrs Parimala and Mrs Manasa, the animators organized the programme.

Chamundipura, Shimoga, July 04, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society in Collaboration with the Forest Department, Ayanur, Streebandhu Federation, Ayanur and Gram Panchayat, Kohalli organized Environmane Day Celebration at Chamundipura on 04 July 2019.

Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the director of SMSSS noted that everyone should not only plant more and more plants but also take proper care of the plants. Mr Ravikumar, the Forest Range Officer, Ayanur noted that because of Global Warming the temperature is rising every day. If we do not make the nature green we will be in great danger in the future. After the programme 10 seedlings were planted in the premises of Government Primary School, Chamundipura. The members from 4 self help groups, school children, Kohalli Gram Panchayat vice president and representatives from the Forest Department were present for the programme. Mrs Savitha M the animator for the area organized the programme.  

M. Guddekoppa, Hosanagar, June 28, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society, the Streebandhu Federation, M. Guddekoppa celebrated Environment Day at Masuru Anganawadi Centre and Chowdeshwari Temple, Ganganakoppa by planting seedlings and distributing 100 seedlings to 80 members who were present for the programme. Prior to the celebration the Health Inspector spoke to the representatives of the Federation on Tuberculosis disease. ASHA animators too were present for the programme. Mr Ravi, SMSSS Coordinator for the area and Mrs Gangamma, the animator for the area organized the programme.    

Kable, Hosanagar Taluk, June 27, 2019: The Streebandhu Federation of Kable-Nagara and the 5 SHGs of Kable area in collaboration with the Forest Department celebrated the Environment Day along with St Francis Xavier Higher Primary School Children, Kable by planting 25 seedlings in the premises of the school. Rev. Fr Richard Pais, the Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier Church, Kable inaugurated the programme and addressed the gathering saying all the members of the SHGs of Kable area should plant at least 2 plants and take good care of them. All the members decided to plant at least 2 plants and take good care of the plants. The president of the Federation and all the members decided to get 100 seedlings from the Forest department and distribute them to the members.

Mr Ravi, the SMSSS Coordinator for the area explained the intention of celebrating the Environment day and also briefed the participants about the various programmes and activities of SMSSS. Mrs Rajeshwari, the animator for the area organized the programme. The teachers, children and members of 5 SHGs of Kable area and the Federation representatives participated in the programme.

Alkola, Shimoga, June 26, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society in collaboration with the Streebandhu Federation, Shimoga and Government Lower Primary School, Alkola celebrated Environment Day in the premises of Government Lower Primary School, Alkola. Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the Director of SMSSS, Mrs Rekha, the Head Mistress of Government Lower Primary School, Alkola, Mrs Vani, President of Streebandhu Federation, Mrs Mary Dias, President of Streebandhu Multipurpose Souharda Cooperative Limited Mrs Precilla Martis, the animator for the area Mrs Jyothi Vas and Coordinator Mrs Pramila were present on the occasion. The representatives from the Federation and children from the school joined hands and planted 10 seedlings within the school campus.    

Harogoppa, Shikaripura, June 24, 2019: The Streebandhu Federation, Harogoppa, Shikaripura celebrated Environment Day by planting saplings in the premises of Ishwara Temple, Anjanapura, Shikaripura. Harogoppa Grama Panchayat Vice President Mr Viswesvarayya and member Mrs Pallavibhai were present for the occasion. Mrs Chaya, the animator for the area organized the programme.

Bommanakatte, Bhadravathi, June 24, 2019: The Streebandhu Federation Bommanakatte, Bhadravathi celebrated environment day by planting trees in the premises of municipality community hall, Bommanakatte. Sr Premalatha UFS, the SAFP Coordinator from SMSSS, the council member Mr Mehaboob, Kannada Sangha, Bhadravathi president Mr H. D. Krishna, Streebandhu Federation president Mrs Shanthi, the Coordinator for the are Mrs Pramila, the animator for the area Mrs Nirmala and members from 7 SHGs were present on the occasion. Mr Mehaboob has told the SHG members to clean up the community hall and use the same for the meetings.    

Nelavagilu, Shikaripura, June 23, 2019: The Streebandhu Federation, Nelavagilu, Shikaripura along with Grama Panchayat President Mrs. Anasuyamma, member, Mrs. Shobha, Federation president, Mrs Chandrakala along with the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society animators Mrs. Gayahtri and Mrs Drakshayanamma and the members of the Federation celebration Environment Day by planting 5 seedlings.  The members have requested the Forest Department to provide them 100 seedlings for free. The authorities have assured them that the members will be provided with 100 seedlings once the rainy season begins. The members have decided to plant at least one each plant and take good care.

Karehalli, June 22, 2019: The Streebandhu Federation, Karehalli of the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society celebrated environment day along with the members of the federation and the school children of Government Primary School, Karehalli. The director of SMSSS, Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto inaugurated the programme. The Coordinator of Save A Family Plan, Sr Premalatha, UFS, member 0f Karehalli Gram Panchayat, Mr Mahalingegowda and president of Streebandhu Federation, Mrs Margaret were present for the programme. The Coordinator for the area Mrs. Pramila and the animators Mrs. Parimala and Mrs Nirmala collected the plants from the Gram Panchayat and organized the programme. The children from the Government Primary School, Karehalli were enthusiastic in planting the trees in the campus of the school. The children have taken the responsibility to take care of the plants.

Melina Kuruvalli, Thirthahalli, June 19, 2019: The Streebandhu Federation, Melina Kuruvalli of the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society in collaboration with Sahyadri Upgraded Higher Primary School, Melina Kuruvalli and Grama Panchayat, Melina Kuruvalli meaningfully celebrated the Environment Day by planting 75 seedlings in the school campus. The programme was symbolically inaugurated by pouring water to the plant signifying the responsibility each one has to take after planting trees.

In her inaugural address Mrs. Shobha T. V., the in-charge head Mistress said that the children should cultivate the habit of planting trees in the surroundings of their houses and take proper care of the planted trees.

The vice-president of Melina Kuruvalli Grama Panchayat, Mrs Geetha Raghavendra said, "today we are giving small plants to these children. The plants should grow as children grow." She urged every child to take proper care of the trees they are planting marking the Environment day celebration. The grown up trees will be the biggest contribution one can give to Mother Earth today.   

The area animator from SMSSS, Mrs Meena D'Mello said that it is a joyful event celebrating environment day with school children. There are 98 children in the school and every child should plant at least two plants  and own up the responsibility of taking proper care.

Grama Panchayat President Mr Ravi encouraged children to take care of the trees planted in the school premises. The Development Officer, Mr Mohammad too spoke about the benefits of planting more and more trees today. All the teachers and students along with the members of Grama Panchayat and the members of Streebandhu Federation, Melina Kuruvalli were present for the programme.
