Chaitanya, Shimoga, December 16, 2021: Christmas is not receiving but giving. “For it is in giving that we receive” – St Francis of Assisi. This year the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society, Shimoga is spreading the joy of Christmas in a unique way by distributing Christmas gifts in the form of Blankets and Towels to all Integrated Child Development Programme Children of the diocese of Shimoga and to various other groups of people. Apart from the Sponsorship children the gifts are distributed to the blind children in Shri Sharada Devi Andhara Vikasa Kendra, Shimoga, to orphans in Divya Karunya Ananda Ashram Trust, N. R. Pura, Chikmagalur District, to children in all the boarding houses within the diocese of Shimoga, namely, Assisi Nilaya Boarding, Harapanahalli, Nirmala Mandir, Shimoga, Christa Jyothi Boarding, Jog Falls, Vidya Deepa Boarding, Kable, Sujnana Boys’ Home, Shikaripura, Maria Bodewig Boarding, Sorab, Divya Kripa Boarding, Molakalmuru, Navajyothi Nilaya, Davanagere and Don Bosco Sujyothi, Davanagere. The same gifts were also given to the inmates of Sudhama, home for the dying destitutes in Harihar. The staff of SMSSS also received a blanket each as Christmas gift. The other recipients of the special Christmas gifts are the inmates of St Benedict Home, Dina Sevana Sabha Sisters, N. R. Pura and Karunya Nilaya, N. R. Pura. During the severe winter season this year, this special gift meant a lot to these people.
This special Christmas gift was made possible by the Children’s Donation Project of Slovak Catholic Charity, Slovakia. Because of the generosity of donors from Slovakia 1980 individuals, both children and orphans received the special gift. Everyone who received this special gift was grateful to the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society for mobilizing the required funds to distribute the best possible gift during the severe winter season. The recipients of the gifts thanked the Children’s Donation Project and all the collaborators of Slovak Catholic Charity. The entire team of the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society felt that this is the true spirit of Christmas.
