Chaitanya, Shimoga, September 18, 2019: The Thirty First Annual General Body Meeting of the Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society was held on 18 September 2020 at Chaitanya, Shimoga. The meeting began at 10.00 am with prayer led by Rev. Fr Francis Fernandes. Rev. Fr Ronald D’Cunha welcomed all the members. The President of SMSSS, Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ declared the meeting legal as there was the required quorum. After presenting the minutes of the thirtieth Annual General Body Meeting and getting them approved, the Secretary of SMSSS, Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto presented the annual report of the Governing Board of SMSSS for the year 2019-20. The Report was presented under the following heads: (1) Women Empowerment; (2) Education and Development; (3) Natural Resource Management; (4) Good Governance; (5) Health and Development; (6) Capacity Building and (7) Community Development. After a fruitful discussion and words of appreciation for the tremendous work of the Society the report was approved unanimously. The President appreciated the remarkable work of the Society and noted that the transparency is visible in all the activities. The President praised the director and the staff of the Society for their notable work in handling the issue of floods in August 2019. The Society had mobilized Rs 93,64,807.00 for flood relief work. With this amount SMSSS could support 27 families to reconstruct the fallen houses and 40 families to repair the damaged houses. Another great effort from the entire Staff of SMSSS is mobilizing Rs 11,50,42,925.00 from various Government Schemes.

After the presentation of the annual report the Secretary presented the audited statement of accounts for the year 2019-2020. The audited statement of accounts was approved unanimously. In his presidential address Bishop Francis Serrao SJ noted that the importance given for conducting various trainings is praiseworthy. He praised the committed, transparent hard work of the Secretary and the commitment of the Staff and wished all of them all the very best. Rev. Fr Stany D’Souza proposed vote of thanks. The meeting ended with concluding prayer led by Rev. Fr Robert D’Mello.
