Thirthahalli, July 17, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society along with the Streebandhu Federations, Thirthahalli and Neraturu organized Health Check up camp and Environment Day celebration in Unity Hall at Thirthahalli on 17 July 2019. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the Director, SMSSS. In his inaugural address he highlighted the inseparable bond between health and environment and said that when we try to protect the nature, nature will protect us. Today because of the destruction of nature human being is facing several problems. He urged everyone to plant more seedlings and keep the environment clean.

The Deputy Forest Range Officer, Thirthahalli, Mr Sandeep stressed the need to plant more plants and make the nature green. Mr Sandeep from the NCD Unit Thirthahalli too highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Mrs Nathalia Lobo, the Health Inspector from LHV Taluk Hospital Thirthahalli spoke in detail about causes of Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Cancer, and Tuberculosis and also urged the participants to approach the nearby doctors whenever they experience uneasiness in their body and more specifically approach the doctor immediately when they see an extra lump grown on their body. She also stressed the need to keep the environment clear so that sicknesses from mosquito bites could be reduced.

Both the presidents of the Streebandhu Federations of Thirthahalli and Neraturu, Mrs Bharathi D'Silva and Mrs Leela Gopalakrishna expressed their gratitude to SMSSS for supporting them in their progress. 12o members participated in the programme of which 95 participants did the Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar test while 30 members did the eye check up. Mr Madhusudhan, the coordinator for the area monitored the programme. Mrs Lucy Aranha, the animator for the area organized the programme.
