Shikaripura, July 22, 2019: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society celebrated Environment Day in Pushpa School premises, Shikaripura on 22 July 2019. The Streebandhu Federation, Shikaripura organized the programme in Pushpa School hall. Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the Director of SMSSS inaugurated the programme. Rev. Fr Santhosh D'Almeida, the Parish Priest of Shikaripura Parish and Manager and Correspondent of Pushpa School, Shikaripura, Mr Nagalingacharya, Forest Range Officer, Shikaripura and Mr Krishnamurthy from the Forest Department, Shikaripura, Mrs Gayathri, the president of the Streebandhu Federation, Harogoppa, were the chief guests for the programme. All the speakers highlighted the importance of protecting environment. All stressed the need to plant more and more plants so that we have people friendly nature. Mrs Saroja, the president of the Streebandhu Federation, Shikaripura presided over the programme. Mr Shanmukha Naik, the coordinator for the area and Mrs Chaya Shivanand, the animator for the area organized the programme. After the formal programme the participants planted a plant in the premises of Pushpa School. 110 members who participated in the programme carried 2 each seedlings to plant them in their own land.
