Honnali, June 10, 2019: A training on the available schemes from the Horticulture Department was organized for the Streebandhu Federation members at Honnali. The resource person Mr Hanumanthappa, A.H.O. Horticulture Department spoke on various government schemes available for the farmers and the possibilities of availing them. There were 38 participants.

He mainly focused on how each one can earn additional income from cultivating extra crops such as cultivating pepper, banana, drumsticks, lemon, curry leaves, vegetables, papaya, etc. in the arecanut plantation. He also said that subsidy from Horticulture Department is available for plantation, drip irrigation, farm pond, manure, seeds, etc. Even through MGNREGA farmers could get Rs 1,50,000/- per hectare for arecanut plantation. He stressed that farmers should make the best use of the available schemes and increase the income of the family. Women were also motivated to cultivate organic vegetables more and more.
